Purpose: The purpose of the lab is to help students recieve a greater understanding of position versus time, velocity, and acceleration through a creative story and a series of graphs.
Materials: The materials used in the lab include a LabQuest Data Recorder, a motion detector, a meter stick, and LoggerPro software.
Procedure:
- The first step is to develop a creative tale of motion that would create a position/time graph involving no motion, constant velocity motion, positive accelerating motion, and negative acceleration motion.
- Create a sketch of the graph that the story would create, keeping ind mind that it should be as accurate as possible.
- Using the motion detector and LabQuest, 'preform' the story and try to recreate the sketched graph with the collected data from the equipment.
- Compare results once objective is complete.

Conclusion: The lab was successful as we were able to create a story that produced a position/time graph that met the required needs. We weren also able to use the data collectors to create an electronic graph that closely resembled the needed outcomes. Through this we were able to understand the purpose and development of accurate position/time graphs.
